Abstract
The legitimacy of publicly funded television (PSB) is being questioned in many countries. This paper examines the foundational principles of PSB and discusses the challenges to its legitimacy. The paper argues that PSB is still a vital public good and that it can be made more relevant and sustainable in the digital age
